There really isn’t a racist behind every bush

The NAACP is going to release a resolution condemning the Tea Party based upon stories that are based upon rumors and/or lies.

The organization “…condemned “racist elements” of the movement as “a threat to progress” and referenced instances in which black congressmen said they were verbally and physically abused by Tea Party activists.

It said the Tea Party movement has “displayed signs and posters intended to degrade people of color generally and President Barack Obama specifically.” (Source:  CBS)

So why not add the New Pink, sorry Black Panthers to your resolution?  Standing in front of polling places with bats and batons, dressed up like soldier wanna-bees… give me a break.

And then  you have government officials saying “”There are jobs at USDA and many times there are no people of color to fill those jobs because we shy away from agriculture. We hear the word agriculture and think, why are we working in the fields?” she said. “You’ve heard of a lot of layoffs. Have you heard of anybody in the federal government losing their job? That’s all I need to say.”"  This same official, Shirley Sherrod, WAS an agriculture department employee with Georgia’s Director of Rural Development.  source:  Fox News

Why is it action is only taken after being exposed?  Why not when it happens?

“Four months ago, at an NAACP function, the guest of honor and federal official told a whole roomful of NAACP members that she had violated federal civil rights laws — and not one person there attending cared enough to pass that information up the organization. Or, if they did, the higher-ups didn’t think it worthy to publicize her admission or even take back the award.”

Less than a day after that video was released Shirley Sherrod resigned her position.

It seems she was pushed, though. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack — who had appointed her to that job — didn’t bother with the typical mealy-mouthed regrets and best wishes.  “There is zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA, and I strongly condemn any act of discrimination against any person…We have been working hard through the past 18 months to reverse the checkered civil rights history at the department and take the issue of fairness and equality very seriously.”

(glad they finally started working on that)

Followed closely by a statement from the NAACP – ”

We concur with US Agriculture Secretary Vilsack in accepting the resignation of Shirley Sherrod for her remarks at a local NAACP Freedom Fund banquet.

Which happened four months ago, when we were giving her an award for her achievements and efforts. And we’re only now rethinking that because we got caught.”   Source:  Wizbang

If nothing else, Shirley is guilty of pandering.
